Berklee Drum Audition

Berklee College of Music is the worlds largest independent music school and their percussion department offers the most extensive percussion education you'll find anywhere. Many successful and well known drummers and percussionists attended Berklee College of Music: Joey Kramer, Mike Portnoy, Gary Burton, Tommy Campbell, Steve Smith and many many more.

As many of you know, you have to go through a mandatory drum audition process in order to attend Berklee College of Music. Unfortunately only 30% of applicants are accepted and only 10% are drummers. That is why it is very important that you thoroughly understand the drum audition process and prepare as best as you can. Especially if you want to receive a music scholarship.




The audition includes:

• Prepared piece of music
• Improvising/ Trading 4s and 8s
• Sight Reading  
• Groove playing & technique 
• Interview
